About US
Eleanor
Sweeney and Jan Taylor have been hand painting early American style chests
and boxes since 1997. They both live in Schaefferstown, in the south-eastern
corner of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, an area with a rich Pennsylvania
German heritage. They are active in the Schaefferstown historical organization
and the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council’s Foxfire House Program, dressing
in period costume and demonstrating their craft, providing a glimpse of life
in a previous era.
Much research goes into
the design of every pattern. Many are adapted from actual objects;
others faithfully follow local styles of the period. Historical background
information accompanies each piece.
With modern methods and materials, Eleanor and Jan
recreate the flavor of 18th and 19th century decorative painting.
