Compass Artist

This large Dome top chest (Approx. 5 x 5 1/2 x 8 1/2") is decorated with motifs made with a compass.  Many similar chests were attributed to an anonymous, probably Lancaster Co., PA craftsman known as the "Compass Artist".  This particular design is based on a chest dated 1814.
