About US
Eleanor
Sweeney and Jan Taylor have been hand painting early American style chests
and boxes since 1997. They both live in Schaefferstown, in the south-eastern
corner of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, an area with a rich Pennsylvania
German heritage. There are many organizations nearby whose aim is to
educate others about the local history. Since both artists are interested
in history, and in learning traditional crafts, this small business is an
extension of those interests.
If you
visit them at one of the historical craft shows they attend (see "What's
New" page), you will find Eleanor and Jan dressed in the clothing of the
1700's and 1800's, and demonstrating their craft (with modern brushes and
paints). They fully research the origin of the patterns they
paint and try to be well informed about other crafts and customs of the era.
