Rank/Connecticut

This 1730 Connecticut design (on the left) is adapted from a chest made in the Connecticut River Valley.  White motifs with monochromatic accents are also seen on furniture made in Guilford, CT and Taunton, MA around the same time period.

This small Rank chest (on the right) has a pattern derived from one which John or Peter Rank of Jonestown, PA, painted on a full sized dower chest dated January 13, 1800.
